The Donor Engagement Manager develops an integrated program focused on donors’ experiences with the organization and, in that, collaborates with fundraisers, marketing and events staff to engage and acknowledge donors with the capacity to make significant philanthropic investments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (50%)
- Engagement program oversight. The Donor Engagement Manager will develop and implement a strategic framework for engaging and stewarding current and prospective major donors for the Washington chapter including: schedules of communications and events; donor acknowledgments, reporting requirements and recognitions; and individualized plans.
INDIVIDUALIZED ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES FOR PRINCIPAL DONORS (25%)
- Create highly customized engagement opportunities for $1M + donors and prospects. Ensure that the design, recording and implementation of personalized stewardship plans for principal donors are fully executed and tracked in a timely and appropriate manner.
MIDDLE DONOR AND ESTATE DONOR STEWARDSHIP (25%)
- Manage outreach and engagement activities for a pool of donors who contribute $50K and below and enhance stewardship for top tier estate donors in Washington.
- The Donor Engagement Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices. They work in close cooperation with any or all of the following: Conservancy staff, donors, volunteers, and vendors.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
Level of Position:
The Donor Engagement Manager is a non-managerial position who serves as a critical partner to fundraisers. They report to a senior Philanthropy staff person and will act self-sufficiently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks. We seek someone who demonstrates the ability to solve problems by working independently and taking initiative, exercising good judgment based on information and analysis.
Within the scope of the position, the Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for:
- Project management of engagement and stewardship plans for all managed donors
- In working to execute plans, coordination of communications and events needs with philanthropy, marketing and events staff
- Developing engagement strategies and facilitating customized plans
- Creating and providing oversight of tailored outreach and stewardship activities to a pool of non-managed donors
- Personalized stewardship of top tier estate donors
- Creating and implementing campaign donor strategies, including recognition, acknowledgment, naming opportunities, and other vehicles to increase funding.
- Coordinating multi-faceted projects, setting realistic deadlines, and ensuring timely implementation.
- Develop documentation, processes, and ensure excellence in the use of systems and tools fundraisers use for donor engagement
- Implementing and managing new initiatives to advance department and organization-wide goals.
- Work is generally performed in an open space professional office environment and involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Willingness to travel within Washington State and occasionally to meetings in other U.S. locations.
- Work long and/or flexible hours as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in fundraising, donor relations or a comparable role with transferable skills.
- Experience planning, coordinating and executing projects.
- Experience generating reports and analyzing and interpreting data.
- Experience with current technology in relevant field.
- Experience working across departments.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.

The range for this position is $60,000 - $67,000/year DOE.
