JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, the Digital Communications Manager manages the production of online written and visual content for digital communications and marketing on behalf of Cascade Bicycle Club (a 501(c)3) nonprofit) and Washington Bikes (the affiliated 501(c)(4) nonprofit).

The Digital Communications Manager works collaboratively with the Development team, the Policy team, and the Events team to ensure implementation of effective Digital Communications strategies and tactics. The Digital Communications Manager should have a strong understanding of current digital marketing concepts, strategies and best practices.

Areas of Responsibility: 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Digital Communications planning, implementation and analysis for Cascade Bicycle Club (80%) and Washington Bikes (20%).

Digital Communications Strategy:

  • Manage Cascade and WA Bikes digital channels: social media, email, and website communications
  • Manage central calendar for marketing and editorial planning; work closely with staff and partner organizations to promote Cascade and WA Bikes activities through a variety of channels and activities
  • Generate monthly performance reports on Digital Communications campaigns, strategies and tactics that help optimize and direct our methods
  • Understand and maintain compliance with communication guidelines for c3 and c4 organizations
  • Keep up with digital trends and technologies, such as changes to social media algorithms

 

Email:

  • Engage Cascade and WA Bikes audience through campaign and transactional email marketing
  • Update email communications strategy as needed by redesigning newsletters, making recommendations for new email service providers, and organizing contact lists
  • Manage and produce Cascade newsletter Braking News
  • Work to minimize list decay and unsubscribes while increasing the productivity of our campaign email sends
  • Develop, evaluate and oversee the implementation of A/B testing protocols and procedures

 

Social Media:

  • Plan, implement and monitor a social media strategy that effectively balances promotional and engagement needs for both Cascade and Washington Bikes
  • Leverage social media management tool such as Sprout Social to coordinate a collaborative, cross-departmental social media team
  • Ensure clear, consistent social media branding and communication
  • Create and distribute content that educates, engages and entertains our audience and supports marketing goals
  • Respond to follower inquiry posts
  • Train support staff in each department, as needed

 

Website:

  • Develop and maintain website content as necessary; support department requests
  • Collaborate with Tech department to identify marketing opportunities within the website
  • Monitor and report website traffic activity

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Communications or journalism experience performing tasks directly related to this position.
  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts, website content management systems, and mass email service providers such as Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, especially in a journalistic and conversational style.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with a team as well as independently.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years of applicable professional experience
  • Knowledge of best practices for digital user experience, SEO strategy, and A/B testing.
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Design Suite and/or other graphic design and photo editing software.
  • Perform basic graphic design and photography work, including photo editing and creating compelling images for social media.


 

SALARY RANGE
$50,750-$65,000 annually. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Due to the large-scale nature of events and their importance to the fiscal well being of Cascade and WA Bikes, staff members are required to work several events a year, a mix of mandatory all-hands events and choice events. This position may also require some evening and weekend work.
