The Seattle Y has an opening for a Branch Executive at our Downtown Seattle branch. As a part of our leadership team, you will play an integral role in defining, developing, and executing strategic and tactical direction to achieve branch business and mission objectives. We’re looking for a seasoned professional with the ability to build strong, collaborative partnerships throughout the organization while leading an extraordinary branch team. 

Located in the heart of Downtown Seattle’s urban center, you will work out of and be responsible for the management of the facility - a historic building that not only houses the Downtown branch you direct but also our administration offices, Camping Services branch, 20 housing units for transitional youth, and Folio – a private library. The Downtown branch offers a state of the art fitness facility with 6 group exercise studios, a full court basketball gym, a 25 meter pool, racquetball/squash courts, an indoor track, and a full floor of cardio and weight equipment. We are a dynamic Healthy Living Center focused on creating innovative programs focused on disease prevention and overall healthy living and serve a diverse population of those who live and work in Downtown Seattle.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Reporting to our West Region Executive, the Branch Executive is responsible for providing vision and leadership for all branch operations including membership, marketing, programming, local fundraising efforts, board, volunteer and community relations, financial management, and other assigned areas.

Specific Objectives:

  • Develops, directs, and monitors high quality programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Directs strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch - More than hundred thousand Dollars annual campaign.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Develops, implements and manages the financial plan of the branch - Two point two millions of Dollars operating budget.
  • Develops, directs and monitors high quality services for YMCA members.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities and equipment.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business, human services, wellness or related field or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of management experience in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably in a YMCA of other not-for-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, adept at successfully building internal and external relationships. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with diverse organizations.
  • Innovative thinker and creative problem solver with a willingness and proven ability to challenge the status quo. 
  • Ability to be flexible, self-motivated and positive, and to respond to the dynamics of a changing environment. 
  • Ability to build, inspire, motivate, and lead a team toward success.
