POSITION OVERVIEW
Cascade Bicycle Club has a vision of bicycling for all, and we are seeking an AmeriCorps Outreach Coordinator to help us create this vision. The AmeriCorps member will be dedicated to sharing their knowledge and passion about active transportation to potential and experienced people who bike. This position will be focused on creating and expanding partnerships to include communities traditionally underrepresented in the biking world. This person will be supervised by the Event Communications & Outreach Manager. If you have a passion for equity and inclusion in active transportation we want you!
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to serve at Cascade Bicycle Club M-F 8:30am-5pm
- Ability to serve evening/weekend hours as required
- Ability and willingness to communicate with members of the public about biking
- Ability to work with diverse populations and age ranges
- Answer questions regarding biking
- Preferred passion for active transportation
- Coordinate with partners and celebration stations for Bike Everywhere Day event
- Attend local community events to discuss Cascade Bicycle Club programs, resources, and initiatives
- Create and grow authentic organizational partnerships
- Actively seek opportunities to present biking knowledge and benefits to new audiences
- Produce written/promotional content around biking knowledge, resources, and activities
- Recruit, train, and coordinate a group of volunteers dedicated to outreach
- Participate in staff and team meetings
- Collect data regarding project and outputs
QUALIFICATIONS
- An interest in active transportation causes and an interest in sharing the benefits of active transportation with others
- Interest in racial equity
- Interest in supporting racial, health, mobility, and/or environmental equity and justice programs and outcomes
- Experience with outreach and working with community groups
- Ability to communicate with diverse populations and age ranges
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Flexible, hard-working, self-starter and ability to work independently; must meet deadlines, be attentive to detail and have the ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to operate desktop computer, including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to interface well with the public and work effectively with multiple stakeholders on numerous projects
- This job requires a person is able to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, lift, stand, and move
- Valid WA Driver’s License, but no car required
- Must be willing to complete a background check
- AA degree or relevant experience
