This role oversees the total operation of Association wide child care, including enrollment growth, programming, staffing and development, fundraising, community relations, and collaborations/partnerships.

The Childcare Executive Director is responsible for supporting and managing the $3.2 million dollar childcare programs, in addition to the day to day business operations of all School Age Childcare programs, Early Learning Center, Kidzcare, Pre-school and Camps for SRYMCA. The ideal candidate will have noticeable experience ensuring high-quality enrichment and child care programming.

Saratoga Regional YMCA is a mid-major YMCA, five branches and over 28,000 members. Growth and expansion of the major revenue drivers which include membership and programs are key.

Saratoga Springs is a beautiful city in Upstate New York. It's a hub for thoroughbred horse racing and home to the Saratoga Race Course. Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing‎program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within ‎the community as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, ensuring delivery of high quality outcomes for children in all childcare programs.  Represent the association in the childcare field. 
  • Create, develop, implement and manage high quality, mission focused programs that meet the needs of the community.  Ensure quality program delivery and effective use of resources including staff, volunteers and equipment within established budget.
  • Ensure staff excellence in service delivery to assure program retention, satisfaction and growth. 
  • Manage program operations to meet established financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory licensing standards including but not limited to DHS, NYS regulations and all SRYMCA policies and procedures.
  • Administering program budget, materials, communication, marketing and promotion. 
  • Provide oversight of all aspects of program registration, promotion, open houses, and communications. Assure clear dissemination of all communication and information to participants and families.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive staff development plan that has a focus on staff satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.  Ensure staffing complies with regulatory requirements.  Responsible for ensuring ongoing feedback and disciplinary action to all program staff. 
  • Monitor staff schedules, time sheets, and payroll.  Accountability for departmental budget relating to staff salaries.
  • Inspect program sites regularly for proper supervision, safety, cleanliness and compliance with program requirements.
  • Direct all aspects of safety related to staffing, equipment, environment and behavior. Know and train on the use of incident reports, emergency procedures, stocked first aid kits, etc.
  • Hold meetings with core staff to communicate program successes and shortcomings and to develop plans to address the identified needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Ed or BA in Arts Child Development.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Childcare Director
  • Experience with the budgetary responsibility of $1 million or higher, preferred.·         
  • A proven track record of fiscal and/or program fiscal responsibility and sound financial management skills.
  • Experience in staff supervision, committees and in providing leadership to groups.
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate staff.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring financial projections, budgets and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with problem solving skills. Demonstrated experience setting and managing priorities.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence
  • Acquire and maintain the following certifications:
    • CPR Pro/AED/O2 (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
    • First Aid (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00
