Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Database Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of the Raiser’s Edge database and the internal process for donations and acknowledgement letters, including, but not limited to: entering all contributions, producing and analyzing fundraising reports, generating lists and conducting and imputing donor research.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for maintaining the Blackbaud system and Raiser's Edge software, in conjunction with IT staff and Raiser’s Edge consultant
  • Oversees the merger of two Raiser’s Edge databases into one
  • Oversees the project to secure email addresses for YMCA donors and members 
  • Determines the capacity for integration and maximizes the information stored in Seer Analytics wealth measurements, Personify membership software, Mail Chimp and Raiser’s Edge to create holistic donor profiles
  • Recommends coding standards and maintains accurate donor records including, but not limited to: constituencies, campaigns, funds, appeals, attributes, relationships, donor and prospective donor research that result in maximum clarity and efficiency
  • Builds and generates lists and reports for development mailing lists for direct mail and email appeals, events and other targeted communications
  • Responsible for the contribution process including but not limited to:
    • Collecting funds received by branches and social service divisions
    • Processing of credit card gifts including follow through if card is declined
    • Ensuring timely deposits with appropriate documentation are received by Finance 
    • Entering and batching gift data
    • Generating and mailing all acknowledgement letters (within 48 hours of the gift), pledge and renewal reminders
    • Coordinating the copying, mailing and filing of Individual Giving acknowledgement letters
    • Process adjustments and corrections to donor giving history as needed
    • Organizes volunteers to assist with processes as appropriate
  • Facilitates development budget reconciliation/audit with Finance
  • Monitors the general development expense budget, including check requests
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum two years development and/or related experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Skilled user of development databases; Raiser’s Edge experience highly desirable
  • Adept at Excel; familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Word 
  • Effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible while experiencing frequent interruptions
  • Fanatical attention to detail; intensely organized
  • Ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Comfort with budgets and financial reporting
  • Ability to analyze data and processes
  • Team player able to work collaboratively with development colleagues as well as interface effectively with other departments
