The PR & Media Coordinator manages and implements focused communication and/or media tactics that facilitates comprehension, adoption and advancement of the organization’s goals and objectives.
The PR & Media Coordinator I is a key member of the Marketing Resource Center (MRC) staff, an integral contributor to the Field Marketing organization within The Nature Conservancy and is the primary interface with the media for the state and MRC. S/he develops and implements media and public relations plans that support state or country programs, cultivates local/regional print and broadcast media & publicizes priority conservation issues, manages both reactive and proactive media contacts as assigned and makes use of print, broadcast and electronic media to secure placements. The position develops messaging and materials for special projects, events and issues and has primary responsibility for writing outreach materials in support of the program as well as coordinating releases from the Communications Department at the Worldwide Office (WO). S/he will manage crisis communications when called upon, and act as spokesperson for the Conservancy at the discretion of the MRC Associate Director and the state/country. May supervise other media relations staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.
- Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
- Experience writing, editing and proofreading
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Public relations agency experience desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both clients and media representatives.
- Demonstrated initiative with ability to handle multi-faceted media environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word, and Excel. Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet.

- Ability to supervise, set goals & expectations and manage staff performance
