POSITION SUMMARY  

Reporting to the Director of Economic and Workforce Policy, the Coalition Manager will lead the development of a new project focused on economic development planning in the South Bay, and support efforts across the Bay Area. The Coalition Manager will convene and lead a diverse group of stakeholders in an effort to collectively create a new, equity-centered approach for economic development, high-road employment, sustainability, and climate resilience, directly informed by workers and impacted community members themselves. This work is seeded in California’s new Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF) initiative.

Areas of Responsibility: 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coalition Building and Strategic Partnerships 

  • Form, lead, and provide ongoing management for the South Bay subregional table, including the following: 
    • Coordinate and align the South Bay subregional table with the goals and deliverables of the Bay Area regional table
    • Build rapport with participants and create a positive group dynamic
    • Ensure representation, engagement, and buy-in
    • Guide discussions toward the intended outcomes and objectives
    • Create and maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants
    • Identify and address any conflicts or challenges that arise during group discussions
    • Navigate inter-organizational relationships and politics
    • Oversee all administrative duties, including but not limited to scheduling, preparing agendas, and recording minutes
  • Plan for and lead coalition meetings, strategic planning sessions, community workshops,  and other events as needed
  • Design and implement community engagement strategies centered around the voices of under-represented peoples and communities 
  • Support the work of major Working Partnerships USA campaigns and other organizational priorities, including but not limited to conducting research, policy, outreach, and administrative work for other org-wide projects and initiatives 
Skills/Experience: 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS  

The ideal candidate for this position brings experience managing partnerships and/or coalitions and has familiarity with Silicon Valley’s diverse communities. The Coalition Manager should also have demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • 5 years of work experience related to coalition building or strategic partnerships is strongly preferred 
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and oversee individual and collective work plans from start to finish
  • A proven track record of successfully leading multi-organizational partnerships and/or coalitions
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and explain public policy or program proposals related to  economic development, workforce, development, and /or climate resilience  
  • Must be able to interact authentically and skillfully with stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to community organizing, economic justice, and social justice movements; Prior experience working in low-income communities of color is strongly preferred  
  • Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Google Suite
  • Some travel is required, primarily within Santa Clara County, but sometimes within the greater Bay Area region
Compensation/Benefits: 

COMPENSATION AND LOCATION 

Our office is located in North San Jose. This role has a hybrid work schedule, with 2 days per week in person and 3 days remote. This is a regular, full-time, exempt position, which may include required work some evenings and Saturdays.  

The estimated annual salary for this position is between $75,500 - $97,500, with commensurate qualifications and experience. Working Partnerships USA also offers robust benefits including:

  • 10 days of annual paid vacation, which increases with tenure, and 12.5 paid holidays
