Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Senior Director is responsible for the organization, delivery, and supervision of the community programs for the Mission YMCA. The Senior Director will represent the Mission YMCA in the community, acting as liaison to several entities, both public and private. The Senior Director will provide leadership and expertise in the areas of Youth Development, program management, budgeting, and staff development. This position is responsible for the overarching vision of the community programs, as well as direct supervision of the ExCEL funded Monroe After School Program, DCYF Family Engagement Pilot Grant, MOHCD Community Action Grants, Director of Community Programs, and Program Director of Youth and Family Programs. As a member of the management team the Senior Director will also engage actively in our Annual Giving Campaign by recruiting and supporting staff and volunteers and being accountable to a department campaign goal.
- Act as senior leader to the Mission Y in all branch-wide efforts.
- Support a culture of team work, inclusivity, philanthropy and cause-driven program development.
- Act as liaison to various community groups, including but not limited to: school districts, community collaborations and city and county departments.
- Create, evaluate, and support the implementation of all year-round camp, teens, afterschool, enrichment and family programs at the Mission YMCA. This includes supervision of Family Engagement Coordinators, Site Coordinator at Monroe ASP, Director of Community Programs, and Program Director of Youth and Family Programs.
- Ensure Youth Development principles are infused into all youth programs.
- Create and maintain community program department budgets, managing program quality as well as net revenue. Support the development and monitoring of department budgets.
- Provide support and training to ensure all programs are in compliance with YMCA regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure on-going communication with parents and families.
- Recruit, support and lead teams of volunteers through our Annual Giving Campaign. Be accountable to a departmental campaign goal and share-in the branch wide responsibility of Campaign success.
- Hire, train, and supervise staff for all program areas. Ensure that staff attends mandatory trainings within specified time frame. Coach staff and volunteers on the mission and values of the YMCA and communicate performance issues in a timely manner.
- Recruit, evaluate, and support volunteer leaders for all programs. Reward and recognize volunteers. Ensure that volunteers attend mandatory trainings within specified time frame.
- Interpret the established objectives and policies to volunteer leaders and staff; counsel them on implementation methods.
- Create comprehensive program schedule.
- Work closely with Communications and Membership staff to ensure community programs are well-marketed.
- Appraise employees annually regarding performance and responsibilities; recommend salary adjustments as a result.
- Prepare technical aids and program resources for program leaders and direct their use.
- Schedule the use of community and YMCA facilities necessary to conduct programs.
- Promote and recruit program participation; assure proper assimilation of new program participants.
- Maintain records essential for control, evaluation and reporting of program results.
- Evaluate results of programs in relation to the YMCA Mission and Strategic Plan.
- Participate accordingly in such projects/programs as Healthy Kids Day, Sip and Savor, Annual Golf Tournament, All Camp Jamboree, Annual Community Egg Hunt, Staff Training, and Annual Giving Campaign.
- Provide for the safety and well-being of all program participants.
- Work with Membership and Administrative Directors to develop efficient program registrations systems.
- Participate in association leadership teams as appropriate.
- Introduce new programs to the YMCA membership and community. Stay in touch with current trends and technical developments to keep programming innovative.
- Conduct staff meetings and trainings to guide, recognize, and improve staff abilities.
- At Least 21 years old
- 5 years of YMCA management experience
- Experience working within the Youth Development Framework of the YMCA.
- Bilingual in Spanish, or Cantonese preferred
- Current CPR and 1st Aid certification
Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00
