The Stonestown Family YMCA is the flagship branch of the YMCA of San Francisco, and serves a large and diverse community of members and participants in San Francisco’s Sunset, Twin Peaks, Lake Merced, and OMI neighborhoods. We serve a facility membership base of over 10,000, more than 2500 seniors across two senior centers, and more than 2000 youth a day in ten afterschool programs and two preschools. In conjunction with the Senior Executive Director and the branch’s second Associate Executive Director (Youth Development), the Associate Executive Director (Healthy Living) position provides exceptional leadership and operational management for the Stonestown Branch in the areas of membership, group exercise, health and wellness, aquatics, seniors, Y-Kids, fundraising, finance, facilities, marketing & communication, community outreach, and staff development. This position also serves as staff support to the branch board and is the staff lead for one of the branch board committees, and is expected to play a lead role for various groups at the association level.
This position involves management and leadership of all aspects of branch activity, including, but not limited to: staff supervision & team building, volunteer relations, the annual community support campaign, fiscal management, marketing and communications, program design and development, accounting and administration, grant management, facility and equipment management, community relations, program and membership operations, and continual improvement in the branch’s overall operating performance, culture, and community impact.
- Works in partnership with the Executive Director to create and implement the Strategic Plan in service to the 2020 Vision
- Directs and manages all operations of the branch in conjunction with the Senior Executive Director and the Associate Executive Director (Youth Development).
- Co-creates and manages the annual operating budget and annual operating plan for the branch in conjunction with the Senior Executive Director and the Associate Executive Director (Youth Development).
- Develops staff to reach their full potential as cause-driven leaders through the use of the leadership competency model, the branch’s Deliberately Developmental Organization model, and individual staff development plans.
- Provides strong day-to-day leadership presence to staff, members, and participants.
- Directs and manages branch-wide efforts for continuous operational improvement.
- Provides direct leadership, direction, supervision, evaluation, recognition and support to management staff, and indirect leadership, direction, support, and accountability to staff at all levels of the organization.
- Provides leadership for all branch marketing and communications efforts.
- Co-Leads, Plans and Conducts the annual fundraising campaign for the branch in conjunction with the Development Director, Senior Executive Director, and the Associate Executive Director (Youth Development).
- Manages member and program participant concerns and feedback with tact, emotional intelligence, integrity, and professionality.
- Manages staff issues, concerns, and HR scenarios with tact, emotional intelligence, integrity, and professionality.
- Supports a culture of philanthropy for board, staff, and volunteers by engaging them in telling the Y’s story and soliciting donations and support on behalf of our cause.
- Ensures that our facility is safe, organized, attractive, and clean in partnership with the Senior Executive Director, and the District Facilities Director.
- Provides staff support to assigned board of managers committees and activities.
- Promotes collaboration with other branches, agencies, organizations, and community leaders.
- Provides leadership and gives support to branch and Association special events, working groups, and other assignments.
- Demonstrates the "Character Counts" values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all your dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
- All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Minimum 21 years old
- Five or more years of professional YMCA experience required
- Excellent relationship building with staff, members, and volunteers; coaching and staff development;
- Excellent oral & written communication skills in English required
- Exemplary planning and problem-solving skills.
- The candidate must think strategically, be member-focused, and be able to lead change.
- They must be effective with highly diverse staff, be results-driven, strike an effective balance between patience & determination, and be able to collaborate effectively.
- The candidate must be able to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations.
- They must guide or direct all actions within a continuing consciousness of the operational and strategic objectives of the Branch.
- Multi-team or Branch Leadership Certification with YUSA strongly preferred.
Salary: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00
