The Associate Director of Development I (ADoD I) designs, implements and coordinates multi-year strategies to engage gift prospects and steward established donors. Some work with corporate and foundation donors may be required, dependent on individual engagement strategies. Special projects may be assigned.
The Associate Director of Development I is responsible for managing a portfolio of high net worth donors and prospects. They are responsible for personally soliciting gifts and pledges in support of global and local priorities. They are expected to develop their portfolio to maximize current and long-term value to TNC. They understand and apply principles of donor cultivation, engagement, and stewardship, serving as primary relationship manager for donors and prospects. They listen for opportunities for gifts of non-cash assets, such as securities and real estate; familiarity with planned giving is desired. They form partnerships with conservation staff and Worldwide Office teams to advance donor strategies. They are comfortable representing The Nature Conservancy’s global and local programs in broad terms, and willing to become well versed in complex conservation work as necessary. They may be responsible for volunteer management within formal and/or informal networks. The ADoD I will quickly develop competency with the Conservancy’s development database, file sharing technology, and other shared tools. They will participate in the development of proposals and personalized communications for donors and prospects in their portfolio. They communicate easily with a wide range of internal and external partners.
