The Presidio branch, located in the beautiful Presidio of San Francisco National Park, offers everything members need to get and stay well.
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Program Director, the Associate Aquatics Director is responsible for assisting in leading and developing the Presidio YMCA’s aquatics programs and staff affiliated with those programs—particularly the branch’s group and private swim lesson program. This position will also collaborate and assist the Aquatics Safety Director with the oversight of risk and safety measures and lifeguard recruitment and quality to ensure safe pool operations. Job responsibilities include assisting in managing, training, maintaining, developing, and evaluating the programs and staff. The Associate Aquatics Director regularly evaluates program delivery and membership satisfaction and is responsible for ensuring the highest possible program quality, retention, and relevancy. The Associate Aquatics Director is responsible for the operation of the pool when the Aquatics Program Director is not present
- Manages and leads group and private swim classes; subs as necessary.
- Responsible for pool operation when Aquatics Director is not present.
- Cultivates relationships with program participants and members.
- Identify/remove barriers to inclusion. Ensures class and program environments are welcoming and accessible.
- Creates and maintains a tracking system for participation, attendance.
- Supervises program schedule. Ensures program is relevant, meets member and community needs, and keeps in line with industry trends. Maintains seamless programming with cancellations and interruptions kept to absolute minimum.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with other departments. Works in concert with other branch departments to ensure members are taken care of on their journey to health.
- Establishes strong communication systems with all YMCA staff and facilities.
- Leads staff team in promoting Annual Campaign and Fundraising.
- Work with leadership to exceed standards in all facets of operations including audits, financial goals and member and staff satisfaction measurements.
- Ensures participation in the appropriate YMCA of San Francisco’s OCTs, ASTs and Cohorts
- Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
- Demonstrate the Character Counts values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
- Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Serve as an active member of the branch management team. This includes participation in branch events: Halloween Carnival, Holiday Lights, Golf Tournament and Trail Run.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum age 21 years
- 2 years aquatics experience
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Current YMCA approved CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard certifications
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Current YMCA approved Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
- Available to work weekends, mornings, and evenings as needed.
- YUSA Swim Lesson Curriculum Instructor certification (to be obtained within 3 months of hire)
- YMCA-approved CPR/First Aid Certification
- Current YMCA Lifeguard certification
Salary: $58,250.00 - $60,000.00
