The Associate, Development, Finance & Operations will ensure office, development and financial operations run smoothly for the Bay Area region.  As a result of your impeccable attention to detail, love for behind-the-scenes work, organizational prowess and ability to get things done, you will have a significant impact on the degree to which members of our team work efficiently and love coming to work in our office.   You will make the San Francisco office -- home to 25 staff -- a welcoming and well-run space.  You will also support the finance and development operations including processing expenses and managing team budget reporting, gift processing, producing donor acknowledgements, and maintaining integrity of donor and prospect records.  

You are, organized, detail- and results-oriented, collaborative, and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment. You are also fun, flexible, motivated by behind-the-scenes work, and have excellent customer-service skills. You will report to the Managing Director, Finance & Operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Manage the San Francisco Regional Office (20%)

  • Manage the San Francisco office’s operations to support the productivity and satisfaction of both regional and national Teach For America staff
  • Provide exceptional customer service and leadership on-site to callers and visitors, external partners, local vendors, and staff
  • Maintain office technology, space and resources; this includes stocking inventory and delivering mail.

Revenue Tracking and Processing (40%)

  • Track, review, and process all revenue received in our region. Work closely with the National Finance team to correctly code all gifts and provide the proper documentation to ensure that all gifts abide by IRS and fiscal requirements
  • Update key information on donors and gifts into our Salesforce-based CRM system (‘TFACT’) in order to maintain an accurate representation of our region’s fiscal pipeline
  • Ensure that donors are appropriately recognized and acknowledged by maintaining external-facing donor lists and composing and sending tax acknowledgments to comply with IRS guidelines  
  • Assist with external event coordination and execution as needed

Regional Financial Support and Operations (40%)

  • Coordinate budget planning through tracking expenses, paying bills, and managing expenditures
  • Partner with community operations specialists and Teach For America’s national administration network to share best practices
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize efficiencies of processes
  • Collaborate with regional team to support regional team initiatives, especially the events that happen the SF office
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • 2+ years of work experience with proven record of achieving ambitious results
  • Knowledge of education/passion for education reform

Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SalesForce and Workday preferred, but not required

Work Demands

  • Ability to work in SF office from 9-5 on Mon-Fri
  • Some weekend and evening work required; ability to travel around the Bay Area
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
