The Program and Education Specialist will be primarily responsible for coordinating and conducting educational programs, care consultations and caregiver support groups in the community. Additional key responsibilities include physician outreach, early stage and younger onset Alzheimer's support services, work with volunteers/interns and effective promotion and outreach with a focus on increasing awareness of care and support programs.
- Carry out the delivery of the Chapter's core services including caregiver education, care consultation, information and referral, support groups, professional training and outreach.
- Effectively plan, schedule, market and deliver Association core services within the community including services for people with younger onset or early-stage Alzheimer's disease and their care partners.
- Conduct outreach and education with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Conduct timely and effective promotion and outreach activities to increase the Chapter's visibility in the community.
- Identify and meet the needs of diverse communities and populations.
- Assist with partnership development in the community.
- Assist the Program and Education Manager with the recruitment, training, management, supervision and support of volunteers and interns.
- Represent and assist the Chapter at appropriate and assigned meetings, conferences, trainings and public events such as health/resource fairs.
- A minimum of three years of experience in community outreach, health care guiding, coaching and supporting individuals and their families
- Experience managing, supervising and supporting volunteers and interns
- Ability to work with a wide range of diverse constituents including persons with dementia, families, professionals and volunteers
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and public speaking communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work
- Must have access to reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance
- Ability to travel regularly throughout Chapter area with some evening, weekend, and overnight travel required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other software and databases
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
