The Program Director II – Expanded Learning Programs (ELP) is responsible for the overall leadership and management of multiple expanded learning middle school programs. The Program Director II will ensure sites meet contractual requirements, collaborate with school and district personal, offer high quality academic enrichment activities, and provide participants with a safe and supportive environment. The position is responsible for hiring and training staff, fiscal management, program planning, program compliance, and by providing staff with the tools and resources to operate quality expanded learning programs that serve middle school students. The Program Director II position requires experience and skills in leadership and management, problem solving, fiscal management, relationship building, and a strong desire to mentor staff, strengthen youth and families, and serve the community.
- Lead the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of all expanded learning programs’ YMCA staff members.
- Effectively manage program attendance and enrollment to ensure programs are consistently at capacity.
- Responsible for overall fiscal management of expanded learning programs including grant funding, budgeting, program expenses and reporting, and ensuring programs follow YMCA of San Diego County ASES & 21st CCLC budget guidelines.
- Provide frequent on-site coaching, mentoring, and staff development for ELP staff members.
- Frequently collaborate with school personnel, families, program partners, and business community to ensure program sites align high quality academic activities, coordinate student services, and develop and maintain positive relationships with families, school, and district partners.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate programs and activities that align and complement the regular school day, offer active and engaged learning, student skill building, youth voice and leadership, promote diversity and equity, and offer culminating family events.
- Facilitate continuous quality improvement process for all expanded learning programs.
- Provide and ensure all participants, families, school personnel, and program guests have an exceptional YMCA customer service experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED.
- Equivalent applicable experience and meet minimum qualifications for a highly qualified Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide in the district in which the assigned school operates; AA/AS degree, 48 college units, or passing score on district’s Classroom
- Four years experience in child and youth development, education, or comparable setting.
