Oversees assigned areas of a YMCA branch, which may include membership, health and wellness, marketing, programs, and/or facilities. Participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Establishes with the branch leadership team long range plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.
  • Provides staff support for assigned committees.  Provides staff leadership for annual support campaign.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies. May direct branch marketing and communication efforts.
  • May ensure the maintenance of facilities and properties of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met.
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelors Degree is highly preferred. Must have a minimum of 3 years operations experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The Associate Executive Director must understand the basic concept of non-profit management and the utilization of volunteers and staff to attain both strategic and operational goals.
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio as well as implementation of these values in all daily work activity is a necessity in this leadership role.
  • Must possess high levels of self-motivation and leadership abilities.
  • This position requires a demonstrated history of leadership in the areas of volunteer and staff development, budget and fiscal management, financial development, community development and strategic planning.
  • Must be fully competent in member service and offering the optimal member experience.
  • Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations is essential.
  • Employee must be able to capture detail and meet deadlines.
  • Employee must have very good oral and written communication skills, and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Gmail.
  • Must be able to understand ActiveNetwork and Raisers Edge software systems, or be able to learn within 60 days of hire date.
  • Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Defensive Driving, and Hazardous Communications
  • Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: CPR Pro and First Aid. If working at a location with a pool, must also complete O2 certification
  • A Texas Driver’s license is required as well as capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $52,000.00 - $58,000.00
