The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Alumni Regional Director (RD) supervises the Alumni staff in assigned regional offices, overseeing program planning/delivery and budget execution. They ensure Alumni activities are aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and objectives. The RD takes advantage of all WWP services and third party assets to develop programmatic offerings that meet warrior needs. They work collaboratively with the Alumni Director and other program peers to impact overall programmatic growth and drive team performance.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage and develop Alumni staff within assigned region to ensure consistent interaction with Alumni and families as well as alignment with organizational priorities and culture
- Build local relationships and work within DoD, VA, military hospitals, and VHA offices to ensure the wounded and their family’s needs are met in a timely and professional manner
- Develop and maintain relationships with military-focused nonprofits and community groups
- If collocated near Medical Treatment Facilities or VA poly-trauma units additional responsibilities may include: Represent Wounded Warrior Project in the military facilities where the wounded receive treatment, Meet warriors at bedside; work directly with the wounded and their family members to assist with the recovery and transition process
- Work with staff and teammates to develop and manage annual action plans and budget, which ensure Alumni’s regional programming is in alignment with WWP’s overall strategic plan. Identify and/or develop methods for maintaining contact with Alumni and families
- Develop participation strategies, identify potential activities and support programs, and oversee the tracking and reporting of regional metrics
- Interact with warriors and families and liaise with other WWP departments to ensure Alumni issues are successfully resolved and communicated
- Travel as needed to specific events to provide an onsite presence during the event activity to ensure Alumni participation in event’s success
- Analyze regional Alumni activities to identify and report deficiencies or gaps in programs and services to include WWP programs, VA, DoD, and other third party organizations
- Support WWP by acting as a representative at events; develop community support and speak on behalf of WWP through outreach/awareness opportunities
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals in leadership and key community roles throughout the region
- Define and/or develop organizational policies, procedures, and processes
- Other related duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree required.

Education & Experience Requirements
- A minimum of six (6) years relevant military work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree
- Minimum five (5) years of staff management experience required
- Experience with military treatment facilities and/or military medical separation/retirement process preferred
- Experience in relationship-building with military organizations, veterans associations, and other targeted constituents preferred
- Two (2) years’ project management experience preferred
- Must be able to travel 50% - 75% of the time
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid United States driver’s license required
