The AARP in San Antonio is looking for a Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 intern to work 20 - 25 hours per week at our San Antonio office. This is a paid position with a competitive hourly rate. AARP's membership is aged 50+, but we work on issues that matter to all Texans. Join us in the fight to improve the lives of Texans age 50+ and their families.

Much of our work will focus on making communities more livable, strengthening individual financial security, helping people pursue career transitions, and preventing ID theft and fraud.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • You will not hone your coffee-making skills at AARP.  We work with our interns to create a valuable and customized learning experience.
  • You will not only work alongside some of our outreach and advocacy directors, but you’ll also be asked to help with our communications initiatives.
  • You will also work closely with AARP volunteers and community partners.
  • This internship will provide experience in field organizing, relationship building, event coordination and advocacy across the San Antonio area.
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; and considered rising juniors or seniors.
Skills/Experience: 

Complete the online application and submit a current resume in response to the specific posted job;

  • Attach a copy of your transcript detailing the number of accumulated credits and your current GPA (a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required);
  • Be prepared to submit two letters of recommendation; which can be from a college or university professor or a manager who is familiar with your work (please note that we cannot complete the hiring process without these recommendations ;)
  • Be prepared to submit writing samples, if required for the position.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
