An opportunity to join the growing YMCA of Greater San Antonio Association.
With general guidance from the Vice President of Operations, the Executive Director of Youth Development (OST) oversees the operations of our Out of School Time programs that primarily include Afterschool and Summer Day Camp programs. Oversight includes 20 plus School Age Afterschool Sites in multiple school districts and Summer Day Camp locations throughout the greater San Antonio area. Leadership duties include: program development and delivery, budget development and monitoring, staff development and certification, public policy and community development, licensing compliance, and facility management of locations and programs. The Executive Director must ensure all programs operate in accordance with state guidelines for licensed programs as well as the policies, procedures, and standards established by the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.
- Provide leadership and supervision to Youth Development Program Directors.
- Advise the CEO and COO on strategic growth opportunities for both enrollment and impact.
- Establish healthy relationships with ISD leaders including Superintendents, Principals, Teachers and Administrative staff.
- Work with Marketing Department to create needed advertising and enrollment resources.
- Provide guidance that supports branch team integration and promotes successful staff transition.
- Provide leadership to the Association Youth and Family Cabinet resulting in standardized best practices and consistent high quality programming.
- Ensure the development and implementation of a quality training continuum for OST staff.
- Develop a system for ensuring program quality.
- Serve as a mentor, providing age appropriate education expertise and support to Program Directors.
- Provide support and training to Program Directors to ensure the curriculum goals and benchmarks are being met.
- Responsible for the growth and development of community and school district relationships.
- Support staff to ensure performance standards are followed.
- Work with the grants department to ensure compliance with existing grants.
- Collaborates with the grants department to identify and apply for applicable grant funding, as appropriate.
- Handle confidential information with a high level of privacy and professionalism.
- Assess and diffuse problem situations.
- Influence others to reach consensus with tact and diplomacy.
- Oversee the budgets for program sites to ensure the best use of resources.
- Approve budgetary actions of staff.
- Ensure that decisions are made within set guidelines, policies, procedures, and precedents.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Development, or related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of three (5) years of related experience, including at least two (3) years of management and supervisory experience in Licensed Programs is required.
- Must understand the basic concepts of a non-profit organization, as well as the structure of the YMCA as a partnership of volunteers and staff, and accept a commitment to the YMCA mission.
- Requires knowledge of computer software application and hardware. Employee must have working knowledge of a Mac environment, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to monitor department budgets and fiscal resources necessary.
- Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Defensive Driving, and Hazardous Communications.
- Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.This position must have the ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Must be 21 years of age, have a valid Texas Driver’s license is, as well as capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
- Within first 120 days of hire, must complete all basic childcare and child abuse prevention training within 120 days of starting position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in a fast-paced office, school gymnasium, and outdoor environments. Position requires attending meetings at different off-site locations.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children’s activities.
- Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.
- Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.
- Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.
- Incumbent must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, as well as, able to manipulate keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils is essential.
