Coordinates and assists with public relations programs to carry out the mission of the Edwards Aquifer Authority.

 

Areas of Responsibility: 

DESCRIPTION:

Coordinates and assists with public relations initiatives designed to promote the EAA and its services to the community; tracks online and print media for topics related to the mission of both the EAA and EAC; prepares and distributes media clips for board and staff reports; plans, and schedules all community and outreach events with staff, volunteers, vendors and venues; identifies and establishes new outreach opportunities; monitors and updates event calendars (outlook and web) consistently; monitors and helps edit community/outreach sections on the website; assists with optimizing Public Relations strategies by collaborating with external vendors to track media trends and updates databases accordingly; assists with media-related tours and/or photo shoots; contributes photos and content to social media-outlets;  develops, maintains, and promotes positive and professional relationships with internal staff, vendors, contractors, media, and the general public; maintains an on-going inventory of promotional materials and replenishes as needed; assists with the coordination of community displays, exhibits and special projects upon request; assists with stewardship activities related to relationship management and non-profit fundraising; helps develop strategies to encourage financial contributions; tracks philanthropic donors and researches sponsorship opportunities, such as grants and corporate giving programs, to secure funding for the EAC; and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job performance may require: listening, seeing, sitting, talking; occasional reaching, grasping, lifting, handling, pulling or pushing, balancing and carrying of items such as boxes of materials, books, etc. with weights not exceeding 25 pounds; limited walking, standing, stooping, and bending; some irregular hours and long workdays and moderate levels of stress. Job is performed primarily in an office environment with infrequent trips to other offices and limited exposure to weather conditions.

 

Skills/Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field plus minimum of three years of relevant experience; or Associates’ degree plus five years of relevant experience; strong knowledge of social media and social marketing; knowledge of communications public speaking, program design, developmental and educational marketing preferred; strong oral, written, and organizational skills; strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office; ability to speak in front of large groups; ability to work effectively with staff members and the public; ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends; knowledge of social media platforms, marketing, water resources preferred; ability to speak, read and write Spanish preferred; a valid driver’s license; and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
