Calling all wranglers! Spend your summer in Utah's Uintah mountains teaching kids confidence in horsemanship!
We offer a variety of equestrian programs to fit campers from novice to advanced. Horse camp provides an opportunity for campers to gain confidence being around horses, develop riding skills, build a base of knowledge of equestrian horsemanship skills, and develop a partnership of caring and trust with horses.
Wranglers further the mission of YMCA Camp Roger through the development of their equestrian programs and activities. Horseback riding activities are designed to be safe, fun and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities. The program areas must be maintained and operated effectively. In addition, the role of the wrangler is to support camp counselors as caregivers for each camper. Wranglers assist in providing a safe, fun and values-focused camp experience for each camper through the planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out of activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.
All levels (except Trailblazers) are provided instruction in grooming, tacking, riding, and general knowledge. Campers will spend time with the horses and participate in traditional camp activities under the guidance of the equestrian coordinator and wranglers.
