Direct and implement strategies that increases members and donors. This includes setting standards for recruitment as well as being an advocate and key leader for the YMCA. Develops, plans and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals. Provide a quality experience for all that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Membership

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional conduct at all times.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and volunteers to achieve goals.
  • Provides leadership to designated staff that are focused on engagement activities for both members and volunteers.
  • Actively works to identify target market prospects and develop initiatives on a monthly basis to increase membership participation and revenue.
  • Actively recruits and manages volunteer program and serves as YUSA project manager for Togetherhood Program.
  • Point of contact for tours, recruitment events and other recruitment activities as needed.
  • Is present on the floor greeting members, ensuring member needs are being met, establish upselling programs and being available for questions.  Provides staff support by fulfilling scheduled shifts.

Fundraising/Development

  • Creates and implements effective communication strategies with compelling messages that inspire others to accomplish the mission and cause with maximum impact. With Engagement Team, develops communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support. Manages and monitors funders’ requirements for recognition.
  • Manages grant proposal development, compliance monitoring and reporting process.
  • Researches potential funders, (i.e., foundations, corporations, etc.) and develops grant proposals to help fund the Y’s programs. Maintains current grants.
  • Directs and coordinates annual support campaign with goal to exceed donations each year.

General

  • Maintains computer databases for various reports, committees and mailings.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information in connection with the CEO’s responsibilities.
  • Provides support for Association-wide special events and projects.
  • Represents the CEO in the community as needed.
  • Identifies and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge on all Y programs, services and policies.
  • Manages budgets for both membership and fundraising.
  • Organizes member events and socials and may represent the YMCA at community events.
  • Manager on Duty assignment for evenings/weekends if needed.
  • Participates in Leadership meetings and activities as directed.
  • Keeps records essential for control, evaluation and reporting to the President/CEO, Board of Directors and Committees.
  • Must sign the Salina Family YMCA Code of Conduct, Emergency Procedures, and Employee Handbook agreements.
  • Follow all YMCA policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as requested.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and two to three years of experience in member/customer service and supervision.
Skills/Experience: 
  • This person should have excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • The candidate should have the ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and have a personal commitment to high quality customer experiences.
  • This person should have a proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others and the ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include morning, evening and weekend hours. It is anticipated that the role will exceed a 40 hour work week.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $32,000.00 - $37,000.00
