California YMCA Youth & Government is seeking a Statewide Program Director who will partner with our many volunteers to deliver all aspects of our core programs while boosting team members efforts to strengthen our organization. We’re looking for someone who exhibits a growth mindset, thrives in a collaborative environment, provides an A+ model of communication, and wants to dedicate their all-in effort to develop remarkable events for youth throughout California.

  • This full-time position is based in Sacramento, Ca and reports to our Chief Operating Officer.
  • Weekend, evening and out-of-town work is common and required.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work side-by-side with our Outreach, Volunteer and Operations Specialists to coordinate and deliver conferences and events for 5,000+ participants annually. 
  • Partner with 50+ volunteers to develop progressive programs and curriculum local YMCA’s and schools find necessary and valuable. 
  • Consistently gather and assess data to drive continuous program improvement and growth. 
  • Create a familial and rewarding team environment that volunteers are proud to be part of. 
  • Recruit and retain key volunteers to help meet program objectives. 
  • Strive to ensure the safety of all people who attend our events. 
  • Update and create the countless documents necessary to serve our constituents. 
  • Regularly host engaging and productive meetings and training sessions. 
  • Prioritize the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan. 
  • Monitor and control our program’s budget. Important notes about the position.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
Skills/Experience: 
  • Alumni of the program highly preferred
  • 5-7 years of knowledge and or experience in the field of public policy and or government affairs.
  • 5-7 years of experience with youth development and leadership training
  • 5-7 years of experience facilitating and managing volunteers
  • 3-5 years of staff management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
