Under the direction of the Executive Director, ensures successful operation of the Rye YMCA, including membership and program development, volunteer recruitment, staff supervision, community relations, collaborations, budgeting and financial results, all within the purposes and policies of the Rye YMCA. Incumbent works closely with the Executive Director to achieve program objectives for the entire Association.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises the Senior Director of Membership, Health and Wellness, Senior Director of Aquatics and Safety, Senior Program Director of Sports, Recreation and Teens, Senior Program Director of Family, Camp and Child Care and Director of Communications to assure sound operations. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses
- are controlled. Develop and administer assigned budget areas and take appropriate action to maintain the fiscal integrity of the physical, aquatic, non-physical, child care and membership departments.
- Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment & retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, and mergers/acquisitions.
- Identifies potential areas for cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads staff in the planning, development, implementation and communication of new program initiatives and activities. Maintains a high level of customer service at all times including, but not limited to, making sure the Association-wide customer service initiative (Expect the Best), is adhered to at every level of the Association.
- Provides reports to committees, Board of Directors, and Executive Director.
- Provides staff leadership to assigned committees of the Board of Directors.
- Implements and oversees a program evaluation system to guarantee faithfulness to the Y’s cause, and a high quality commitment to YMCA standards.
- Interprets and communicates the objectives and programs of the Association to the community through public communication media and participates actively in community organizations. Develops relationships with other YMCA’s, agencies, schools, churches, etc. in order to increase the collaborative ventures of the Association.
- Keep informed through self-study, research, conference/workshop participation on current trends in membership development, recreation and health/fitness.
- Provides leadership to the membership phase of the Rye YMCA’s Annual Fundraising Campaign.
- Provides leadership to resolving member related complaints/issues and develops staff to be responsive to member questions and concerns.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent; Master’s
Skills/Experience:
- degree preferred.
- Ten or more years of professional and leadership experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, marketing & communications, volunteerism, facility & property management, and sound financial practices.
- Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
- YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $116,000.00 - $138,000.00
