The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) currently uses multiple systems (both siloes and integrated) for tracking constituent and related transactional data across its many functional areas (Campaigns, Patient Access, Research, Donor Development).  Primary systems include a complex proprietary system and multiple instances of Salesforce.com.  There are multiple data related initiatives currently underway to standardize the way data is sourced, transformed, managed, consumed, and distributed across the organization.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is looking for a talented, hands-on senior database administrator who will be an integral part of the data management team as a key resource on several critical data related initiatives currently underway like creation of a master data management framework, an operational data store and an enterprise data warehouse. The senior database administrator will provides technical expertise in the design, implementation and maintenance of Relational Database Management Systems (MS SQL Server) by ensuring that operational and analytical data can be made easily available to the organization in a dependable and timely manner consistently. Candidate must have experience in Windows, PowerShell and Linux operating systems. Willingness to learn and perform installation, configuration and administrative tasks related to database management systems and components (Informatica MDM and Erwin) a very big plus. Working knowledge of unstructured databases like Big Data and non-relational databases like MongoDB is a plus.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Capacity planning and hardware sizing for new implementations and migrations.
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of multiple database environments including highly transactional operational systems, an operational data store, and an enterprise data warehouse.
  • Creation and review of physical models created from the logical models including experience working with Data Modeling tools like Erwin and Power Designer
  • Migrate database structures and data between multiple environments and platforms maintaining enhanced integrity, audibility and traceability by following and enforcing industry best practices related to change management.
  • Leads the definition of and ensures compliance with logical and physical data model and data standards working collaboratively with system architects and developers, data analysts and database developers.
  • Support developers and data consumers in the development of complex SQL and creation of database objects like stored procedures, views, functions including query optimization.
  • Proactive database performance monitoring and tuning ensuring that the database is performing optimally through effective performance related issue(s) identification and timely resolution.
  • Develop strategy and implementation plans for database implementation, data source integration and data archiving.
  • Maintain and verify database backup and recovery plan(s) that allows for a quick and comprehensive recovery of a data caused by user error or system outage and ability to quickly refresh data.
  • Develop high availability and disaster recovery set up and plans that meet application RTO/RPO targets
  • Design and implement advanced data access and authentication framework with the ability to enforce information security at a very granular level
  • Experienced in setting up SQL Server Log Shipping, Replication and Mirroring
  • Implement a monitoring and alert notification system regarding the health of the database environment including the status of jobs
  • Consistently look for opportunities to automate manual processes
  • Provide off-hours support including supporting ETL jobs over the weekend
