As a Senior Security Engineer, responsibilities will include overseeing the architecture, engineering, construction, and deployment of effective host, network, data, and application security services for development and production environments.  In addition, being able to secure existing system architectures and network designs by evaluating systems, software, devices, and technologies, developing requirements for related security solutions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the architecture, engineering, construction, and deployment of effective host, network, data, and application security services for all LLS environments.
  • Secure existing system architectures and networks by evaluating systems, software, devices, and technologies, developing requirements for security solutions.
  • Support the ongoing design and implementation of security architecture.
  • Conduct technology and system assessments, provide technical consultation / leadership, and ensure system security functionality.
  • Develop, enhance, and execute documented procedures for security-related tasks, and ensure the overall availability of the security infrastructure.
  • Respond to system security concerns, work with other teams and third party partners to resolve security issues via investigation and incident response.
  • Collaborate with and support other LLS teams including Infrastructure, Development, and third party partners as technical security representative.
  • Provide technical leadership as a senior member of the information security team.
  • Support compliance and audit activities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote fundraising initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent Work Experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 9 or more years of experience
  • This position will require a certain amount of independent decision-making, but will also work closely with their manager for critical decisions. As experience increases, an increase in autonomy will also be expected.
  • The Senior Security Engineer works closely with all areas of the business, as well as directly with numerous outside contacts and partners. He or she will influence these relationships, as well as the perception of LLS, and thus must be able to interact with everyone in a positive manner, potentially under stressful circumstances.
  • 9+ years of experience designing, managing, and supporting data center / enterprise systems and security.
  • Experience with network and host intrusion detection and protection systems, network, application and system security, segmentation and management.
  • Expert knowledge of Enterprise Linux OS (Bash, Python, Regular Expressions, Scripting a +).
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Active Directory.
  • Expert knowledge of Amazon Web Services and AWS Security.
  • Experience managing / using NGFW, HIDS, NIDS, SIEM, DLP, and other security infrastructure tools.
  • Experience designing and operating network security systems and controls.
  • Superb troubleshooting, problem determination, investigation and resolution skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
