Program Manager, Volunteer Engagement

The Volunteer Program Manager is responsible for the development and stewardship of key volunteer engagement programs, including growing and overseeing existing programs such as the Platinum Board Initiative and Capacity Building. The Manager will also be responsible for working with the VP, Volunteer Engagement to create programs, tools and resources to support volunteer initiatives at LLS.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop programs, initiatives and the resources that support the volunteer structure and direction at LLS. This would include supporting existing volunteer programming as well as working to identify resources and programming that supports the overall volunteer engagement strategy.
  • Collaborate with LLS teams to develop training and outreach to the field and product teams. Create and deliver trainings as necessary.
  • Provide customer service to the field and product teams as needed to support volunteer engagement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications departments to socialize programs and communications effectively across all functions of LLS as well as work with the marketing team on design of volunteer engagement materials.
  • Lead on management of program delivery and execution.
  • Stay current with volunteer engagement trends in the marketplace including understanding what nonprofits are doing to engage volunteers as well as what companies are looking for in opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree, Nonprofit Management, Volunteer Management, or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA) preferred
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Program development skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management skills
  • High level of experience in volunteer engagement or volunteer management

 Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Position requires a minimum of 10-15% travel.
  • Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.
