The Region Vice President will provide overall leadership and management to assigned Region. This will be achieved by developing strategies for regional collaboration, by effective utilization of resources, and by delivering optimal economies of scale to achieve the overall Regional net income budget annually by maximizing revenue generating opportunities within the Region.
The RVP will lead Executive Directors in partnership with Heads of Product/Campaign of TNT, LTN, MWOY/SOY, Student Series, and Special Events. The RVP works with HR Business Partners, Mission staff, and the Vice Presidents of Volunteer Engagement and Operations in assigned Region to deliver optimal strategic planning & alignment; financial, talent, and operational management; fund raising and campaign execution; volunteer engagement; and Board and organizational development.
The RVP will conduct these activities with the approval of the LLS President & CEO and the EVP, Chief Relationship Officer and must show demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals in a metric-driven environment, in the ability to assist Chapter Executive Directors in develop world-class local Boards of Trustees, and in driving overall employee and volunteer engagement in the assigned Region.
Revenue Development/Business Planning & Analysis: 30%
- Provide management guidance and leadership to assigned Executive Directors through performance planning, objective setting, performance monitoring, review and annual evaluation, and guidance on overall chapter development.
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, annual plans and long-term net revenue growth strategies that meet and surpass goals across all campaigns.
- Assess and recommend ways to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of chapter, including staffing plans, administrative systems, management procedures, facilities and equipment.
- Propose enhancements to the chapter’s organizational presence and overall performance in primary and secondary market areas.
- Evaluate resources within the Region and develop plans which support maximum revenue results within the market.
- Evaluate the income growth potential of all Regional activities and develop appropriate strategies to ensure income growth and stability.
- Manages Region and collective budget of staff resources to support attainment of net income for Region each fiscal year. This includes marshalling resources across chapters in Region to maximize return on investment.
- Guide the development and assess the chapter annual and monthly budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Lead the facilitation of territorial realignments including consolidations where appropriate and appropriate resource allocation where opportunities exist.
Regional & Chapter Long-Term Strategy (3-5 Years) and Change Management: 25%
- Partner with CRO, CHRO, and RVP colleagues to determine optimal Field structure (i.e., Chapter macro structure) designed to drive significant future revenue growth and awareness for LLS.
- Partner with CRO and CHRO to determine optimal specific Chapter structures designed to drive significant future revenue growth and awareness for LLS.
- Diversify future Region and Chapter revenue streams by identifying and developing high-growth, high-margin revenue opportunities by focusing on Donor Development expansion, Corporate Development, e-revenue and other innovative initiatives.
- Partner with CHRO and HRBP’s to develop optimal change management programs to ensure successful restructurings or organizational development initiatives.
Talent Management & Development: 20%
- Advise Executive Directors in the hiring and promotion of key chapter staff in partnership and with input from regional campaign leadership.
- Work closely with CRO, CHRO and HRBP’s in driving key Executive Director Talent decisions via the established “9-Box” development and assessment grid.
- Advocate for and ensure that all critical LLS talent management & development initiatives such as Performance Management, Manager/Leadership Training, Employee Engagement, Incentive Compensation, and Career Development are consistently and effectively being managed in each Chapter in assigned Region.
- Ensure that headcount and temporary staffing requirements and processes are being adhered to.
Volunteer Development & Engagement: 15%
- Partner with Vice President, Volunteer Engagement and Chapter Executive Directors to achieve high impact chapter Board of Trustees, providing guidance on Board development, strategic direction, mission activities, LLS priorities and initiatives (e.g., Platinum Board Initiative).
- Partner with Vice President, Volunteer Engagement and Chapter Executive Directors in working with the Chapter Board’s search committee in the search, selection and on-boarding of new trustees.
- Partner with Vice President, Volunteer Engagement and Chapter Executive Directors to ensure volunteer engagement training and execution is achieved in each Chapter in assigned Region.
- Partner with Vice President, Volunteer Engagement, Chapter Executive Directors and managers, and Human Resources to determine where volunteer skills can replace staff and temporary hires.
Matrix Management & Collaboration: 10%
- Provide management guidance and leadership, in partnership with EVP, Product and designated NO staff, to Regional LTN, TNT, MWOY/SOY, and Student Series, and Campaign Directors ensuring campaign best practices are followed. Works with NO colleagues to develop ED performance objectives that include campaign and revenue budget achievement.
- Work closely with NO partners to provide dotted line management to Regional Marketing, Mission, Human Resources, IT and Finance staff.
- Monitor and ensure timeliness and accuracy of chapter compliance with LLS reporting and policy requirements (i.e., remittances, monthly financial results, F.A.M.E, administrative deadlines, policies and procedures, etc.).
- Identify and coordinate regional opportunities in training, income development, public awareness, sponsorship, and corporate volunteer development in partnership with National Office colleagues.
- Facilitates regional meetings focused on alignment, partnership opportunities, sharing of best practices, training, etc. in partnership with National Office colleagues.
- Reinforce the LLS focus on, and expectations for, chapter Mission programs including advocacy and patient services.
- Participate in the assessment of Chapter information systems needs and procedures and provide recommendations for enhanced operations.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible related fundraising experience with a minimum of 5 years in an RVP role or the equivalent.
