Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA aquatic programs. The Director must be energetic and demonstrate the YMCA character traits of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility while being able to develop community relationships with members, other organizations and staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- All Aquatic programming including swim lessons, aqua aerobics, lap swim, etc.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Must complete CPO certification in 90 days.
- Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pool and whirlpools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
- Schedules and teaches swim classes and water fitness classes.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Schedules birthday parties and special events in pool.
- Develop and implement a year round learn to swim program.
- Coordinator for the swimming instruction for additional programs, i.e. Friends in Motion, Montessori PE, Outreach Swim Lessons, Water Days for Summer Feeding Sites, etc.
- Conducts new employee training and orientations
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Must have all aquatic certifications including LGI, Certified Pool Operator, First Aid /CPR, AED/O2 and basic understanding of YMCA programs, swim lessons, aquatic exercise and good knowledge of budgeting.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00
