This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This role will assist in building the community’s and members’ understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact in the community, through events, engagement activities, and other assigned outreach. This role will also help coordinate marketing and communications efforts, as well as volunteerism through recruiting, placing, and tracking volunteers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plan and coordinate annual events and member engagement events
  • Attend community outreach events to promote and engage others in the Y
  • Prepare communication materials as needed for community outreach efforts
  • Coordinate Social Responsibility initiatives including Toys for Tots, canned food drives, etc.
  • Produce and distribute ongoing communications including monthly newsletters and weekly memos
  • Support YMCA branding and the development and implementation of annual marketing plans
  • Keep all marketing and communications information updated throughout facility
  • Assists in other marketing and membership engagement efforts as assigned, including monthly post cards for new members and termed members, social media updates, photography and video
  • Manage all volunteer inquiries, volunteer database, and recognition to engage volunteers
  • Work with supervisors to determine currents volunteer needs and develop strategies for volunteer recruiting and placement (not including policy volunteers)
  • Support staff and volunteers with community presentations, meetings and events
  • Manage Y-Gear sales and inventory for the Welcome Center
  • Support Marketing & Development Director in Annual Campaign fundraising events and efforts
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Adobe Creative Suite and/or Microsoft Office experience required.
  • One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator of activities or events.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • IT (Information Technology) and video production experience preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively and compassionately to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to interact in a friendly, enthusiastic, energetic and outgoing manner with members and those interested in the Y at events, etc.
  • Ability to learn Daxko Operating Software.
  • Understand and promote all program and membership offerings and registration methods.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communicational and organizational skills.
  • Ability to generate and implement creative ideas.
