The Youth and Family Director organizes, develops and implements high quality programs including but not limited to: Preschool, Youth, Kids Care, Sports, humanities programs including music, art, dance, and special events centered around family and youth programming. The Director must be able to create a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring a quality experience for children and parents that focus on the Y's core values. Motivates, inspires and provides guidance to a team of leadership staff to include Program Coordinators, department leads and front line staff. Supports and participates in on-going association efforts to nurture the potential of every child and teen by enhanced program quality and retention.
- Ensures Youth and Family programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new, innovative program activities and expanding the program as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs diverse staff and volunteer teams as needed. Continually reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships among staff, members and community. Maintains regular, clear and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the budget to meet fiscal objectives; securing and scheduling the needed facilities and resources, creating and scheduling classes, activities and events
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations and sponsors. Actively participates in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Serves on the association Program Committee
- 2+ years related experience in program management preferred
- Minimum age 21
- Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Within 60 days of hire, completion of CPR, First Aid & AED Certification, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Harassment Prevention and New Employee Orientation trainings
- Strong ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships with staff and leaders of the Y
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Salary: $32,000.00 - $36,000.00
