The Brand Manager creates communication pieces that bring more people to the Y’s life-changing programs. Our fast-paced environment reflects the scope of services the Y offers, and our communication is as varied as our audience. This position creates marketing collateral, presentations, advertisements, digital and web media/content in support of the brand, strategic goals and objectives of the Y. Additionally, this individual assists the Department as requested in executing various initiatives.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide leadership in extending the YMCA’s online presence, including website management, social media management, electronic newsletters and graphic communications.
- Develop online outreach strategies and plans. Ensure all online content reaches target audiences with the appropriate tone & manner.
- Use technology to cultivate new opportunity and exposure for the YMCA through story telling and impactful messaging.
- Research emerging technologies and assess their potential use in support of YMCA business and mission.
- Research and develop tools to monitor impact of social media and web presence.
- Work with marketing, development and operation teams to develop and innovate ways to incorporate digital media into the marketing efforts and campaigns of the YMCA.
- Assist with website maintenance, updates and consistent messaging.
- Create promotional materials for assigned marketing and communications initiatives to include, but not restricted to, advertisements, e-blasts, banners, posters, flyers, brochures, reports, social media, and other print, online and creative materials.
- Ensure compliance with national Y brand throughout the organization.
- Communicate with staff, members, volunteers, parents, contractors, and vendors in completion of initiatives.
- Bid and coordinate assigned promotions with vendors for the completion of the campaign.
- Provide assistance to staff in developing their branch and program promotions.
- Assist department in development of new marketing and communication strategies.
Educational Background:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in the discipline of marketing, communications, graphics and/or digital design preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- 2-4 years creative graphic design experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of social media monitoring and management, content marketing experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in administrative support experience.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Excellent computer and graphic software skills with strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite 5 (particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), and Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of social media in relation to the broader media mix; understanding of the interplay between online/social media, traditional media and campaign integration.
- Experience creating social media strategy, managing online contests, ongoing measurement and reporting.
- Ability to navigate online content management systems, including WordPress.
- Experience with managing e-mail marketing platforms, like Emma, Constant Contact or Mail Chimp.
- An understanding of branding and the ability to follow nationally established branding guidelines.
- Understanding of industry best practices, especially as they relate to social media at non-profits.
- Strong knowledge of user-generated content, web video, and viral marketing approaches using web technology and applying this information and research to further develop the YMCA's Internet strategy.
- Basic proficiency in the use of video editing software or ability to learn.
- Assist in raising funds for the YMCA annual campaign.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $37,000.00 - $42,000.00
