The Granite YMCA - Strafford County Branch, located in Rochester, NH is currently seeking a dynamic individual to be our Membership Director.

Under the supervision of the Branch Director, the Membership Director will oversee the day to day operations and personnel of the Welcome Center as part of an overall strategy to retain and grow branch membership. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise Welcome Center staff.
  • Directors are expected to work hours needed to perform the roles and responsibilities of the position (some seasons are more hours while others may be less), and are able to set their schedule as needed with Associate Branch Director’s approval.  It is expected that the Director will be able to work and observe ALL staff/shifts to include early mornings, evenings and weekends, and will adjust schedule accordingly to make this happen on a consistent basis.
  • The Membership Director is expected to be scheduled for 15 hours per week on the Welcome Center Desk.
  • Create and maintain the monthly staff schedule for the Welcome Center staff along with organizing and conducting ongoing staff training relevant to job function for each team member. Host monthly staff meetings, incorporating other program departments as needed.
  • Cultivate external community relationships to promote the Y as a leader in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.  This includes, but is not limited to, staffing community and corporate health fairs and serving as an external ambassador for the Y in appropriate settings.
  • Work in collaboration with Membership Quality Circle, Marketing and Data Management to review and understand membership trends and provide input as to growth and retention strategies. Develop a broad understanding of local membership base/demographics and role of the Y in the local community
  • Manage and coordinate all related special projects and incentives for the Welcome Center such as Member Appreciation Days, Member Picnic, and Member Incentive programs.
  • In collaboration with Branch Director and Marketing Department, implement annual member engagement plan, membership sales and retention plan, and goals and initiatives.
  • Initiate regular contact with Work at Wellness partners and meets with local businesses, organizations and government agencies to cultivate membership sales opportunities.
  • Manage, develop and control assigned budgets to meet approved revenue and expense plans and all associated support materials and reports.
  • Provide and maintain systems for accurate data entry and timely submission of program registration and membership paperwork, statistics, data and reports.
  • Understand the Y mission and core values; demonstrating and role modeling in every encounter.
  • Attend and participate in the Membership Quality Circle for the Association and monthly AWT and Branch staff meetings.
  • Encourage and present the opportunities for members to volunteer in meaningful ways within the YMCA.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The incumbent will possess a strong set of customer service and communications skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and functions aligned with the mission of the YMCA membership policies and procedures.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $33,500.00 - $40,000.00
