The Senior Aquatics Director at Ridgewood YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing high-quality, member-focused aquatics programs. This is a fast-paced change-oriented position where the Senior Director is responsible for all things Aquatics and is a leader among the corps of Director-level staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensures aquatic programs and services, including but not limited to swim lessons, competitive swim programs (swim team and synchronize swim team), lap and family swim, special needs swim offerings meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, service area partnerships and expanding the programs within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Supports the maintenance of accurate records of pool chemical levels and partners effectively with facility maintenance department.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the department, including developing and monitoring the department’s budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the pool facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, practices and meets; delivering a high-performing instructor and lifeguarding staff corps committed to YMCA policy, procedure and member experiences.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- Minimum of three years related aquatics leadership experience, experience as an aquatic director preferred
- Minimum department budget gross revenue responsibility of $350K per year, $500K per year preferred
- Minimum age of 21.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Completion of YMCA aquatics training and trainer certifications or equivalents.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $72,000.00 - $75,000.00
