Reporting to the Senior Program Director, the Camp, Enrichment and Sports Manager will oversee and grow our summer day camp, summer specialty camps and day-off vacation camp activities. In addition, the Director will develop and implement high-quality sports and enrichment programs for youth through adult populations. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages the summer day camp programs, including the supervision of the Y’s Kidz summer camp Director; Camp Pamacka summer camp Assistant Director; Senior and Junior summer Camp Counselors; and Teen Trip Counselors, as well as the Ridgewood YMCA day-off vacation camp throughout the school year.
  • Oversees all camp activities, including swim lessons, arts and crafts, trips, songs/games, sports activities, theme days and shows. Adheres to all local and state camp health codes. Supervises the well-being of all campers.
  • Hires, schedules and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Designs and implements staff trainings and meets with staff regularly. Facilitates communication; provides leadership; and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Participates in pre-season setup and post-season breakdown of camp.
  • Markets all camps to increase membership. Organizes and schedules camp registrations.
  • Leads, manages and supervises all year-round Ridgewood YMCA sports programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices. Monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings and training for coaches.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Oversees the development and operations of various enrichment programs, as well as holiday/day-off experience programming.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations to ensure that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Organizes and hosts sports clinics and seasonal events.
  • Creates marketing for our youth sports and recreational programs. Organizes and schedules program registrations. Reviews and processes program scholarship applications.
  • Trains, develops and supervises youth and adult sport staff.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates inclusive sports, camp and enrichment programming.
  • Provides support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned while developing and maintaining effective working relationships within the community. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. Able to deal with conflict when warranted.
  • Supports the coordination of special events and activities, furthering the cause of the Ridgewood YMCA.
  • Responsible for summer camp, year-round sports and enrichment budgets. Compiles program statistics, provides data and reports as required. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in camp, youth sports and enrichment programs.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Educational Background: 
College degree in related field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Strong organization, customer-service, computer and communication skills a must
  • Minimum 2 years’ camp leadership experience required
  • Prior experience running summer camps highly preferred
  • Must be creative, innovative and enjoy working with children
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid and YMCA program-specific certifications necessary
