We are seeking a dynamic industry leader to advance the field by driving forward the work of Taproot’s Advisory Services practice as Head of Advisory Services. 

ABOUT ADVISORY SERVICES

The Advisory Services team provides strategy and advisement, and develops and implements pro bono programming with our corporate and foundation partners, and supports the development of tools and resources that enable pro bono beneficiaries and practitioners to thrive.

As the trusted advisors and expert pro bono practitioners, Taproot’s Advisory Services team envisions a collaborative, well-resourced, cross-sector movement for social change where:

  • All social good organizations with promising solutions are equipped to successfully take on urgent social challenges
  • Individuals and entities feel an active responsibility to address society’s most intractable challenges and channel their talents and resources into meaningful action ​

To that end, Taproot’s Advisory Services team enables and delivers the highest quality pro bono service to social good organizations by:

  • Fostering meaningful connection and learning among social good organizations, companies, and volunteers ​
  • Designing pro bono programs in a way that equalizes access to valuable resources and knowledge, emphasizes empathetic and authentic partnerships, and builds a culture of collective accountability across sectors​
  • Acting as an advocate for social good organizations as they serve the communities that they know best​
  • Setting the standard of excellence for the field by demonstrating, innovating on, and sharing pro bono best practices

The Advisory Services team accomplishes the above vision by providing:

  • Pro Bono Strategy & Advisement: We design pro bono programs that maximize the impact potential of our partners, including companies, foundations, and other institutions and shift the way they think about supporting the social sector
  • Pro Bono Program Delivery: We develop and implement pro bono programs that connect social good organizations and skilled volunteers to build and cultivate communities aligned on a mission for positive social change
  • Pro Bono Field Building: We support the development of tools and resources that enable pro bono beneficiaries and practitioners to democratize access to valuable resources and knowledge that would otherwise not easily reach the social sector and share them with the field through convenings and thought leadership
Areas of Responsibility: 

The Head of Advisory Services is a member of Taproot’s executive team and reports to the President & CEO. This leader:

  • Oversees the Advisory Services practice and its consulting work, with responsibility for strategy, management and financial oversight, as well as the operationalization of DEI strategy into the practice.
  • Leads a robust team of passionate professionals bringing our programs to life and dedicated to impact, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Is an expert in our work and plays a vital role supporting our business development, partnership development, and team management in collaboration with the Strategic Partnerships team.
  • As a member of the Executive Team, supports the collaborative and thoughtful development and implementation of our shared organizational strategic priorities, internal communications and Root engagement; serves as a thought partner and resource for the CEO and demonstrate a shared responsibility of leadership in modeling our diversity, equity and inclusion principles
  • Can serve as one of the leading voices in the field as we inspire and advance the pro bono movement.
Skills/Experience: 

Leadership:

  • You have 15+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years managing team leaders with oversight over a large department.
  • You are a dynamic leader and coach, bringing a depth of experience managing leaders across large, national, hybrid teams and building a culture that fosters accountability, belonging, and growth.
  • You are adept at influencing, advocating and enabling change and transformation within your team, in your organization and with your external partners and clients.

Strategy:

  • You have demonstrated experience defining a compelling business strategy, setting priorities, and driving impact.
  • You are an inclusive thought partner and collaborator with a keen eye to advancing DEI priorities and initiatives within your own department as well as across the organization as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • You are able to balance the opportunity for a substantial growth trajectory with team sustainability.

Execution:

  • You have deep experience establishing a business operating model, ideally in the consulting or professional services space, and know how to balance resourcing needs with team professional and career development.
  • You are an expert relationship builder internally and externally with the ability to establish, cultivate, and deepen meaningful connections with partners, clients, and colleagues to advance the organization’s mission and work.
  • You are comfortable developing, implementing, and monitoring an annual department budget and goals.

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or seven (7) years of demonstrated progressive management-level experience.
Compensation/Benefits: 

This is a remote position with some travel required. Taproot is accepting applications from candidates based anywhere in the continental United States.

Base salary starting at $120,000 annually. This sample starting salary is reflective of a position based in Colorado and would be subject to a locality adjustment.
