We are seeking an energized Human Resources leader who will help drive the HR Strategy, culture, and work environment for the YMCA of the East Valley.  This person will provide strategic and operational leadership across the entire employee lifecycle including staffing, onboarding, employee experience, recognition and career/professional development. This person is responsible for managing the employee relations activities and employee engagement initiatives in accordance with the organization’s mission, values and goals. The Director will possess the ability to diagnose complex employment and organizational matters and develop and implement sound, balanced solutions. This role is accountable for successful partnering between departments, leadership, and the HR team. This role will have multiple direct reports.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Effectively oversee implementation of Y-USA association child abuse prevention standards, HR related crisis management, ensure compliance with all HR related state and federal labor laws, and manage payroll and worker's compensation.  
  • Provides leadership, support and direction to the HR team creating a culture of great customer service, aligned employee relations, effective communication and exemplifying YMCA core values.  
  • Ensure that Living Our Cause permeates the YMCA culture through the implementation of ongoing themed campaigns, coaching and training.  
  • Design and deliver training, development, coaching and performance management programs to support the YMCA Employee Experience Roadmap and alignment with YMCA core values.      
  • Partner with department leaders in the development and implementation of department specific hiring strategies resulting in a strong employer brand and staff vacancy reduction. 
  • Partner with leaders to identify and shepherd emerging   leaders through opportunities for personal and professional development.  

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with operational leaders to develop and lead effective human resources strategies to achieve business goals and drive the culture of YMCA.   
  • Provide strategic business partnership to leaders including talent management, development plans, and employee relations.  
  • Build, inspire and lead an energized team of HR professionals that model our culture and work with a customer-service approach.
  • Ensure consistency in approach and lead your team in the development, improvement, and execution of efficient, effective employee relations processes. 
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
  • Understand YMCA’s culture and be a key driver of culture and engagement programs and events.
  • Conduct investigations and reporting in a confidential and consistent manner.
  • Deliver appropriate coaching and development feedback to managers and employees.
  • Ensure effective performance management process
  • Evolve our talent acquisition processess to leverage relationships with local schools and universities and improve sourcing employees. Develop recruiting plan for needs based on workforce panning, especially for the large fall hiring season.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA in Human Resources Management or related field preferred  
Skills/Experience: 
  • PHR/SPHR Preferred 
  • 5+ years of HR experience required, with at least 2 in a leadership role; extensive employee relations experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and develop and execute strategies 
  • Solution and customer service oriented
  • Effective emotional intelligence and listening skills
  • Ability to incorporate feedback from all levels of the organization 
  • Strong consulting, coaching, and facilitation skills  
  • Proven ability to inspire confidence and credibility at all levels in the organization  
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00
