This position is a key member of our management team with responsibility for the day to day human resources and payroll operations, as well as special projects. Additional responsibilities include administration of new hires, benefits, processing, analyzing and verifying HR / P/R records and reports, and year-end audit support. The ideal candidate will also have experience in identifying opportunities to streamline business operations and a demonstrated background in software evaluation and implementation.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage the processing of the bi-monthly payroll for approximately 300 employees in 16 departments interfacing independently to resolve any issues. 
  • Payroll processing includes:
    • Verifying payroll information submitted by department supervision.
    • Accurate input into the payroll system.
    • Verifying exception pay, taxable and voluntary deduction items.
    • Process and remit involuntary deductions and track garnishments.
    • Resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases, and tracking vacation, sick and personal time.
  • Responsible for year-end processing of W-2’s.
  • Generate the quarterly tax filing reports.
  • Complete New Hire Background Investigations. 
  • Maintain confidential personnel files and personnel actions.
  • Respond to reference checks and verifications of employment status. 
  • Prepare and maintain records of documents pertaining to employment terminations, exit interviews and insurance forms.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate input of employee information into the employee database.
  • Responsible for timely replies to Department of Labor requests.
  • Create ADP pension report semi-monthly in CSV format.
  • Administer ADP iPay.
  • Respond to requests for Unemployment, Workers Compensation, Disability and Liability Insurance.
  • Request Certificates of Insurance from Insurance Broker.
  • Work with the CEO & CFO to implement new streamlined Payroll / HR systems.
  • Prepare audit schedules for independent public auditors.
  • Generate and maintain the supply of new hire packets and other human resources / business office related documents.
  • Ability to continually review current processes and procedures to improve efficiencies and to optimize the use of technology.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 7 - 10 years of human resources experience, including prior generalist experience in all areas of HR.
  • High proficiency in HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Proven understanding of benefits administration programs and payroll taxation.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional judgment when handling matters of a sensitive nature.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to be proactive with excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, database systems, and software applications.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
