Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the Sr. Director of Membership Engagement is responsible for the delivery of high quality, engaging, and innovative adult programming at the Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA. They will be responsible for oversight and vision of Membership through leadership of Membership, Healthy Living and Aquatics teams. The Senior Director of Member Engagement will be responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the Board of Directors, governing committees, and administrative staff of the YMCA of the Triangle Area.
- Provides a determined, welcoming, nurturing, genuine and hopeful environment to staff, members and community partners, in accordance with the YMCA mission.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Ensures member engagement by connecting members to personalized wellness experiences through orientations, fitness assessments and personal training opportunities.
- Leads the Membership Experience, Healthy Living and Aquatics Teams creating quality programs, activities and events in alignment.
- Directly supervises the Aquatics Director, ensuring the delivery of high-quality swim lesson programs, pool operations and facility safety through staff, regularly evaluating to maintain excellence.
- Directly supervises the Healthy Living Director, ensuring the delivery of high-quality wellness and group exercise programs and facility safety through staff, regularly evaluating to maintain excellence.
- Directly supervises the Membership Engagement Department and the Member Engagement Director ensuring we are delivering consistent, high-quality tours and membership experience processes (recruitment, onboarding, retention and cancellation/recovery).
- Responsible for creating innovative relevant member engagement programming and experiences.
- Develops, implements, and manages budgets for all assigned departments.
- Provides leadership for the annual fundraising campaign through leading staff and volunteer teams to meet set goals.
- Participates as a member of the MIQ Team, and leading the MET team.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity.Responsible for onboarding and developing them for success.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Must be experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building though programs.
- High level of initiative, be a self- starter, and have superior communication skills and presence to effectively manage the staff, programs, and budget of the departments.
- Exceptional ability to determine and set priorities and possess capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Possess a positive attitude, a high level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
- Must be certified or be willing to become certified, in First Aid, Basic Life Support, Oxygen and AED.
- Exceptional written, and oral communication skills. High comfort level with public speaking.
- Ability to assist in the management of facilities, equipment, and programs.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
