Provides leadership to the Kerr YMCA and is responsible for its strategic direction and success. Leads the organization in achieving its mission, including overseeing staffing, development, and operations, under the policies, directives and guidelines established by the Board of Directors.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local and surrounding communities and develops working relationships with other businesses, organizations, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in the service delivery area.
- Coordinates the development of the Branch Advisory Board and committees/task forces. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Plans, organizes, and implements the annual We Build People Campaign. Directs all financial development activities of the branch.
- Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets budget targets. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
- Maintains a well-balanced program menu that encourages membership. Ensures that all quality standards and program enrollment targets are met.
- Recruits and selects professional staff. Supervises and appraises the work of professional staff and provides opportunities for leadership development, establishes performance standards, and conducts thoughtful performance appraisals.
- Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.
- Develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Implements branch marketing and communication efforts.
- Serves as a member of YMCA leadership and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by Association.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, human services or related area; related graduate degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Eight or more years broad management experience, preferably in the YMCA and/or not-for-profit sector, including strategic planning, board and volunteer development, philanthropic development, and multi-site operations.
- Demonstrated experience in community relations, financial development, financial management, and board and volunteer development.
- Ability to attract, retain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteer leadership.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, property and facility management, marketing and public relations, membership development, and program development.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both fiscal viability and the effectiveness.
- Must have commitment to the mission of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
