Under the supervision of the Regional Associate Branch Executive, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the Senior Membership Experience Director supports overall membership and wellness functions at the Downtown Raleigh YMCA (DTR). He/she will work to ensure innovative programming through the lens of connecting all members to small communities that support a healthy spirit, mind, and body. He/shewill be responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for the overall operations of the DTR Branch. Directly oversees the Welcome Center, Wellness floor, Operations and Maintenance staff. Works in conjunction with the Alexander Y in providing programs and initiatives including core group fitness, personal training, adult wellness programs and membership engagement events.
- Develops and drives a comprehensive plan to achieve membership sales goals, retention rates, Y Connections and cause driven tours.
- Develops and leads a marketing and membership growth plan that attracts local residents and establishes contractual relationships with local companies and hotels.
- Leads and ensures the systems, structure, programs and training create warm, spirited and engaging interaction with members.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and leading the Branch Engagement Team that is responsible for branch operations during non-traditional business hours.
- Leads all branch membership engagement initiatives in efforts to help all members and participants become connected and have opportunities to grow in healthy spirit, mind and body. This is done through specific events such as Feel the Love week, as well as infusing these principles into all normal spaces of operation for the YMCA
- In coordination with the Specialty Group Fitness Director, creates a framework for programming the outdoor plazas on Fayetteville Street. Examples include, outdoor wellness classes, run clubs, and race trainings
- Manages assigned budgets effectively.
- Serves as the staff liaison for Branch Volunteer Committee. Recruiting and mobilizing key volunteers to further the Mission in DTR and develop strategic partnerships
- Responsible for being a high level leader in the branch’s annual campaign. This includes but is not limited to; recruiting and managing highly committed volunteers, leading teams for the annual campaign at various levels, and raising money
- Serves as part of the Leadership Engagement team with includes working evenings and weekends outside of regularly schedule time on the wellness floor
- Participates in Association Program Initiatives (IQ Work)
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of related professional experience in wellness, membership or branch operations.
- He/she must be professional, courteous and friendly,have a high level of initiative and be a self-starter.
- He/shemust have excellent communication skills, be well organized, and be able to respond appropriately in a dynamic, fluid environment. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Personnel leadership abilities are necessary, along with experience in volunteer management. He/she must be able to cast vision and think critically.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, YMCA members and the general public.
- Ability to lead by example and inspire staff to provide high quality, relevant services and programs to the local community and to fulfill the mission of the YMCA.
