The Aquatics Coordinator will assist in providing direction and leadership to the Aquatics Department. In partnership with the Aquatics Director, responsibilities include: recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate aquatic staff. The Aquatics Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing The Gateway Family YMCA Competitive Aquatic Programs. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Year-round Swim Team Head Coach: Overseeing tryouts, practices, meets, swim clinics, master's prgoram and administration. Manage assistant swim team coaching staff. Available to work mornings, evenings and weekends for practice sessions or swim meets as scheduled. 
  • Lifeguard & Water Safety: Supervise lifeguard staff. Create, manage and oversee Lifeguard schedule. Schedule and implement monthly In-Service trainings. Be on deck 15-20 hours a week as on duty lifeguard.
  • Assist the Aquatics Director in the supervision of swim instructors.
  • Assist the Aquatics Director with weekly and monthly Aquatic Safety Drills.
  • Assist the Aquatics Director in managing budget guidelines, review monthly expenses, and evaluate each staff's performance. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous experience supervising lifeguards and swim instructors.
  • Previous coaching and swim team management experience. 
  • YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration and First Aid certifications.
  • Principles of Competitive Swimming must be obtained within 3 months of hire and thereafter, maintained and renewed. 
  • Ability to manage a Competitive Swim Team program, including Winter & Summer Youth Programs, Competitive Swim clinics and Master's program. 
  • Ability to hire/supervise staff, motivate swimmers and manage parent volunteers. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $38,000.00
