Highlights of position responsibilities include: Supervision, fiscal management, administration of all certification programs, program and recreational swim design, brochure and marketing administration, and contributing to Branch and Association-wide initiatives. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and scheduled in-service trainings
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic plan
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and  YMCA health and safety regulations
  • Responsible for the direct service of aquatic staff, including staff scheduling, class organization and implementation. Ensure all shifts and classes are adequately covered. Act as sub, if needed. 
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events. Secures and schedules pool facilities.
  • Oversees Rapids Swim Team and all competitive aquatic programs
  • Maintain accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance
  • Conduct and ensure proper maintenance of pools
  • Maintain accurate records of staff certifications
  • Conduct lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
  • Create and schedule swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience leading an Aquatic Department within the YMCA, Community Pool Environment or Health Club sector
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard (or equivalent) certification
  • Current CPR-PRO certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Current Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) certification
  • Current Oxygen Management certification
  • Current YSL (or equivalent) certification
  • Current CPO certification preferred
  • YSL Trainer and Y Lifeguard Trainer certifications obtained within one year of hire date
Compensation/Benefits: 

$45,000.00 - $55,000.00
