Job Description
- Establish and execute new programs and maintain high quality of current programs.
- Work closely with others to follow guidelines of current grant based programs.
- Successful candidates must be proficient in grant record keeping, which will include budgetary responsibilities and written communication skills.
- Full Time hours - schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday work week and evening hours.
1. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Currently programs include, but not limited to Youth and Government, Saturday Teen Nights, Teen Mentoring Program, Summer Camp Teen Leaders, Friday Night Middle School Program.
2. STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Recruits, hires, trains, manages, develops, coaches, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
3. MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Builds relationships with and among members, especially the junior members. Ability to respond to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause. Expected to be on Director on Duty rotation.
4. BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Plans and manages department budgets as approved in a fiscally responsible manner. Responsible for timely and accurate payroll for the department.
5. FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Works with appropriate branch staff to provide program facilities for members that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
6. VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility.
7. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields. Education, Child Development, Physical Education, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Computer experience required: Microsoft office suite including Word, Publisher & Excel. Training in internal operating software provided.
- MA 7-D student transportation license is to be obtained within the first 60 days.
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position.
- Effective teaching skills, the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with member needs/concerns appropriately and reflecting an attitude that values diversity are required.
- Demonstrated skills in budget development and management, staff and volunteer development, planning, supervision and fund raising.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate poise professionalism with staff, parents, participants and other professionals.
