Responsible for the gathering and development of quality communication content for media purposes on behalf of EAC in collaboration with all internal EAC/ EAA department as well as external stakeholder/ partners. Also, responsible for supporting the increase and enhancement of EAC’s content for communication purposes ensuring the realization of accurate, engaging, and timely products that communicate EAC’s brand, accomplishments, and values to internal and external stakeholders via various means.
Media and Communications
- Creates a content plan for the year ahead
- Supports the department lead in iaising with with communications agency on required content
- Under the direction of the departmental lead, liaises with partners to secure relevant, high quality content
- Develops communication content for the programme in such a way that messaging is apparent and delivered in an engaging way
- Works in conjunction with Education, web and communications specialist to develop high quality, original content
- Actively seeks opportunities for media engagement and pitches the same directly to media
- Supports the preparation of team members for media interactions or other events
- Supports the planning of media trips and liaising with partners on the same
Internal EAC/ EAA Communications Support
- Collaborate EAC departments to provide timely and accurate EAC relevant information, which includes but not limited to project data, stories, images, video etc.
- Create relevant communication products and/or provide guidance when necessary on communication products submitted by Internal EAA/EAC departments.
- Proofread, review content, designs, and printing formats to ensure accuracy and quality of all communication publications.
- Work with, assist and provide guidance to other EAA departments when necessary regarding social media, EAC’s web presence and fund-raising initiatives.
- Supports the one team initiative and related tasks, develops and shares relevant information in a timely manner with the relevant stakeholders.
Partnership Communications
- Request relevant communications from partners that will benefit EAC/ EAA’s brand and message.
- Review and edit partner communication submissions and content to ensure accuracy and alignment of messaging with EAA/ EAC objectives and standards.
- Offer guidance, feedback and support to partners to increase the quality of communications content received.
Event Management
- Assist the Engagement Manager in executing and managing key events that would increase EAC/ EAA’s brand awareness.
- Keep abreast of international affairs, educational developments and events in countries where EAC partners operate in, leading to increased EAA/EAA brand awareness.
Special Tasks
- Carry out any additional tasks, projects or responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor, reporting manager or EAA executive management from time to time

People Management
- Provide operational guidance and feedback to team members on a day to day basis.
- Provide inputs on team members during performance appraisal process.
- Typically requires 5-8 years of relevant experience in management of large projects and/or programs.
- Has ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
- Proficient writing and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language.
- Experience in specialized technical/medical field of study.
