This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. To be responsible for overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of human resources functions of the organization. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assists executive management in the overall administration of human resources functions, including but not limited to: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and onboarding employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and planning, assigning, and directing work of the human resources staff.
  • Maintain responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as reflected in YMCA policies pertaining to employees.
  • Supervise the staff of the human resources department in the coordination of benefits, training and development, employee record keeping and compliance, and general human resource administration. 
  • Develop and administer the Human Resources Department budget.
  • Remain current on human resources trends.
  • Analyze, develop, and recommend policies and procedures for the association related to staff.
  • Conduct employee relations counseling and investigations and advise management on recommended actions. Coach employees and managers as needed to resolve issues and concerns.
  • Conduct market analysis and create and implement a total rewards strategy and program.
  • Develop and implement a performance management process for the organization.
  • Recommend and evaluate staff development opportunities for the organization.
  • Develop and implement a human resources information system that meets the needs of the organization.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree strongly preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.  HR Certification preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and challenges.
  • Detail oriented, self-starter and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with payroll/timekeeping systems or HRIS systems preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • At least five years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, EEO, ERISA, ADA, and other relevant HR related laws.
  • Strong communications, leadership, group facilitation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00
