Greater Providence YMCA is currently looking for a Child Care Administrator for Infant/Toddler and Pre-school Aged program.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of his/her supervisor, the Child Care Administrator is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the program to ensure: compliance with regulations, achievement of program goals and delivery of a positive environment for children, families and staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work with the Education Director in the management of the child care program to:
    • Monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives
    • Maintain the new enrollment plan of families and child transitions
    • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local licensing regulations as well as YMCA program standards.
    • Engage a vibrant family community to include a Parent Advisory Committee, parent volunteer opportunities, quarterly newsletters, monthly communications and quarterly family events
    • Work with the Association marketing department to create a social media presence and promotion plan for the program.
    • Recruit, train and support diverse program staff to ensure a high level of retention, satisfaction and quality that develops them for success in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
    • Maintain an ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment for the center.
    • Develop and implement a plan to meet a Four Star Bright Star rating
    • Assist in the classroom as necessary
  • Work with the Executive Director in approving and tracking participant financial assistance awards.
  • Work with Branch Business Manager on submitting all program payables and purchasing needs for the program.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance working in conjunction with the facility management company and cleaning service to ensure a clean, organized, risk-free environment.
  • Maintain staff and child records or files in accordance with licensing regulations.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions; work in harmony and cooperation with other staff members at the Branch and Association level as well as with volunteers and members to develop a team spirit and family atmosphere.
  • Develop and maintain strategic collaborative relationships with community organizations (e.g., state childcare licensing agency, school administration, local schools and colleges) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Work with Central Billing Administrator to:
    • Ensure efficient enrollment, billing for all program participants.
    • Maintain all necessary reports and statistical data as required for program management and licensing, the Department of Education and Nutrition program.
    • Maintain the necessary records involving attendance and sign-in and sign-out sheets.
  • Identify and arrange for grants to enhance the program.
  • Continually enhance professional development through workshops, educational courses, seminars, program school offerings and appropriate reading material and maintain required IDPD.
  • Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports.
  • Keep abreast of the trends and needs in child care and plan for ways to meet those needs.
  • Communicate with participants and members regarding programs, services and events offered by the East Side Branch as well as those at the YMCA of Greater Providence.
  • Actively participate in Branch or Association fundraising efforts and/or special events, providing leadership when necessary.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or higher and minimum of 6 credits in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • RIELDS Certificate relevant to this position or ability to acquire such certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • One year of professional experience in administration and/or business management.
  • One year experience working in a licensed/approved early education program.
  • Within 60 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification, Listen First, YMCA New Hire Orientation
  • See appropriate Greater Providence program quality standards or state licensing requirements as applicable.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $42,000.00 - $46,000.00
