The School Age Child Care Director leads the design, development, planning and successful delivery of the Princeton Family YMCA’s robust Before and After School programs. Reporting to the Director of Youth Development and Outreach and the Senior Director, Programs & Operations, s/he will develop and manage appropriate program budgets. S/he is responsible for managing all AM school sites and PM school sites located in the Princeton and Montgomery Township School Districts as well as summer camp programming. The School Age Child Care Director recruits, trains, and develops part-time staff and volunteers to support and deliver programs. The Director will also provide support to part time staff with curriculum development and CATCH implementation. S/he ensures quality experiences for children and families that focus on the YMCA core values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility and maintains all licensing requirements as part of the State of New Jersey Department of Children and Families – Office of Licensing. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting the summer day camp program, out of school (Y Zone) program, and special events or initiatives; supporting all management systems in place according to YMCA standards; and ensuring that all daily procedures and tasks are carried out in order to deliver planned programs and services to all YMCA members.
- Manages, directs and coordinates the school age childcare programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Directs high quality youth and family programs including before and after school programs, day camp programs, out of school programs, and family special events in accordance with the YMCA areas of focus of Youth Development, Healthy Lifestyles and Social Responsibility.
- Ensures adherence to budgeting for relevant departments; assist with preparation, analysis and management of departmental budgets.
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of seasonal and part-time staff. Must work within YMCA guidelines for hiring practices, conduct staff training according to YMCA standards and Office of Licensing, assist in the coordination of relevant staff meetings and conduct at least one review of all seasonal staff members.
- Serves as key contact with school district; support expanded communications and positive relations with school administrators, parent/teacher organizations and other youth-serving agencies and organizations.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
- Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and annual campaign.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- .Knowledge in NJ Department of Children & Families – Office of Licensing, American Camp Association, & NJ Youth Camp Safety Act.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess and demonstrate strong supervisory skills.
- 5 years minimum of program and supervisory experience.
- Must have current CPR & First Aid Certification.
- Excellent personal and written communication skills; command of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Ability to use relational database and spreadsheet software. Must be able to manipulate data, create reports, and import/extract information from companion software.
- Sound judgment, ability to prioritize and be self-directed, and work independently.
- Ability to work flexibly with a collaborative team of staff members and volunteers.
- Ability to work within procedures efficiently and handle several tasks concurrently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain systems for accurate record keeping; ability to enter data and/or word process.

- Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with YMCA best practices, NJ DCF Licensing and American Camp Association requirements.
Salary: $37,500.00 - $47,500.00
