Develop and execute strategies to achieve the Desert Southwest Chapter's vision, mission, and goals in Northern Arizona, working in partnership with the Chapter and volunteer leadership.  Supervise a small professional staff team and a large cadre of volunteers to offer programs, education, and resources for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their families in Northern Arizona communities.  The Regional Director has primary responsibility for fund development and community outreach activities in the area.  The position involves significant collaborative efforts with Chapter and regional staff, volunteers, and the community at-large.

This is a full-time exempt position located in the Prescott, Arizona regional office, and reports to the Desert Southwest Chapter Executive Director.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide leadership to develop and execute strategies for Programs, Public Policy and Fund Development for Northern Arizona, in keeping with the Chapter's Strategic and Annual Plans.
  • Provide support and staff leadership to the Regional Leadership Council and its committees to develop and implement local plans.
  • Maintain an organizational climate that attracts, motivates, supports, and retains high quality professional employees and volunteers. Oversee volunteer recruitment, supervision, development and support.
  • Provide leadership in the planning and implementation of Regional fund development strategies in collaboration with the Chapter, which include special events, donor relations, identifying funding opportunities, proposal writing and grant / contract management.
  • Serve as public spokesperson and presenter for the Chapter in the community.  Assist in the development of Regional plans for communication, outreach, and collaborative partnerships, in keeping with the Chapter's Strategic Plan.
  • Serve as part of the staff leadership team in legislative advocacy for issues concerning the Alzheimer's Association and constituents.  Activities may include recruiting and supporting volunteer advocates, meeting with elected officials to inform them about issues and resources, coordinating local town hall and advocacy day activities, and supporting efforts to move state priorities forward.
  • Provide input to the annual budget and planning process.  Manage Regional revenue and expense expectations. Prepare financial, programmatic, and other reports as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the Chapter's management team, participating in the development of organizational plans and coordinating with other members in specific functional areas.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Progressively responsible work history in non-profit management, including fund development, community outreach, program supervision, grant writing, and volunteerism. Experience in gerontology helpful.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.  Ability to write concise reports and effective grant proposals, and to provide oral presentations.
  • Multicultural sensitivity. Bilingual Spanish-English helpful.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills. Ability to encourage teamwork and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Chapter territory by automobile, and air if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and good driving record.
  • Physical activity is required on occasion and may include long hours of standing, walking and some lifting/carrying materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
