Under the guidance and supervision of the Trout Lodge Lead Program Director, Trout Lodge Program Director and Assistant Program Director, the Trout Lodge Program Specialist will be responsible for the planning, implementation, provision and evaluation of guest programs for the YMCA of the Ozarks while exemplifying the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for facilitating programs and lifeguarding at the YMCA of the Ozarks
- Assist with themed weekends and special programs
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of community programs.
- Responsible for assisting with the development of the summer evening programs.
- Follows staff policies and procedures.
- Assist with the development of lesson plans for all Trout Lodge and community programs.
- Responsible for the enhancement of the overall service given to all Trout Lodge and Camp Lakewood guests.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all YMCA of the Ozarks departments to provide for the comfort and safety of Trout Lodge guests.
- Provide the maintenance department with timely information pertaining to the upkeep, maintenance and operation of assigned program areas and related equipment.
- Report damaged or lost program equipment in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Participate in the implementation of YMCA management systems as they apply to World Service drives, United Way drives, Capital and Partner Campaigns.
- Responsible for van maintenance and upkeep of all YMCA vehicles when in use.
- Responsible for supporting marketing efforts to promote program participation and the use of the YMCA of the Ozarks by conference, day and specialty groups.
- Attend and contribute to weekly program staff meetings.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all program staff.
- Keep living conditions in a satisfactory manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Requires High School diploma, some college preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience in camp, resort or outdoor skills programming preferred.
- Requires Class E driver license & clear driving record. CPR and First Aid required or may be obtained during training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical Mobility: walking, climbing, stairs, standing, kneeling, bending, leaning, stooping and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Physical Dexterity: ability to use telephone, computer, electronic equipment, exercise equipment, office equipment (fax, copier, stapler, etc.), tools and machinery as needed.
- Lifting: ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Sensory Requirements: ability to hear, listen, speak, smell, touch, taste, see and distinguish colors.
- Ability to drive vehicles (golf carts, car, van and/or bus)
- Ability to maintain alertness for several hours at a time.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Ability to tolerate extreme temperature conditions (heat and/or cold)
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $50.00 - $70.00
